About Me

Veteran coach Mike Gillian has been involved with the game of basketball in a wide variety of roles. Before joining IMG Academy in 2019, he worked as an assistant coach at Florida International University and as a color commentator on the broadcast of college and high profile high school games for various media outlets. Prior to FIU, he spent 10 seasons at Longwood University where he still holds the record for most Division I victories in Longwood basketball history. In his six seasons at George Mason University, the team competed in multiple NCAA Tournaments, an NIT, and won multiple CAA titles. Gillian was instrumental in recruiting the 2003 class that led the Patriots to the NCAA Final Four in 2006. As an assistant coach at Bowling Green University, the team won a MAC Championship, reached the post-season NIT and coached former NBA 1st round draft pick, Antonio Daniels. Gillian was part of an extremely successful Division II program at American International College that won 120 games in six years and played in the DII NCAA Tournament.
