Matt was born in Omaha, Nebraska and he learned to play golf by watching his father at 5 years old. He started playing tournament golf at 8 years old and was a winner.
After a succesful Junior golf campaign Matt Graduated HS and moved onto Georgia Tech to play college golf.

- Attended Georgia Tech on golf scholarship and was a 2 Time Letter winner
- Member of the Georgia Tech Team in the Topy Cup Tokyo, Japan
