Lamont Thomas

Before coming to IMG Academy, Thomas spent 2012 – 2015 at Jones County HS in Gray, GA and served as Sprints, Hurdles, Relays and Jumps Coach. Coach Thomas mentored 54 State Championship qualifiers, 38 Finalist and medalist. The Boys team were 3-time regional champions and the girls were 2-time regional Runner-ups. Additionally, the Gray Hounds set more than 18 school records in the areas of Hurdles, Sprints, Relays and Jumps under Thomas’ tenure.

In addition to coaching at Jones County HS, Thomas also coached an AAU/ USATF Club Team from 2010 - 2015; The Road Runner Track Club. During his 6 Years with RRTC, Coach Thomas had 48 AAU JR Olympic Qualifiers, 32 medalists and All Americans. Coach Thomas also had 8 AAU National Qualifiers and 6 medalists.

Prior to his time at Jones County HS, Coach Thomas had stints at Academic High School (Jersey City, NJ) and Bayonne High School (Bayonne, NJ) where he coached Sprints, Hurdles and jumps. Coach Thomas had 21 Athletes receive All-County Honors in the Hurdles and 37 State Qualifiers in Sprints and Hurdles.

Thomas started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of New Haven During his time at UNH, Coach Thomas worked with the Sprints and Hurdles training group. Thomas mentored Marcus Walton who was a four-time All-New England All-East honoree and All-America honors in the hurdles indoor and outdoor.
