Germaine Gonzalez began playing basketball as a kid in his hometown, Ponce, Puerto Rico, before playing college basketball at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Ponce, PR from 1995 to 1996, winning the Inter University Athletic League (L.A.I.) in 1995. In 1997, he received the opportunity to be a basketball coach and a teacher at Colegio Ponceño and this was only the beginning for Germaine's many experiences in the 24 years of his coaching career. Among his achievement’s as a Varsity Head Coach: 5 championships on LAEC (Liga Atletica de Escuelas Catolicas), 4 final four and 2 back-to-back finals in the McDonald's National Tournament with Academia Santa Maria and he was selected Coach of the Year in the Youth Category of Ponce, PR in 2016. As an Asst. Coach at the professional level for the BSN League with Leones de Ponce Basketball Franchise, he made it to the finals in 2013 and won the championships in 2014 and 2015. Also, with Leones de Ponce, he won a bronze medal in the FIBA Las Americas Tournament in 2017. As a Middle School Head Coach, he led his team to the championship of the FSCL in 2020.
