Alex Calcaterra

Golf Coach

  • With IMG Academy Since: 2024
  • Hometown: Milan, Italy
  • Languages Spoken: English and Italian

Alex comes from an Italian golfing family and learned his golf at the beautiful Villa D'Este Golf Club, near Lake Como, which has been the venue for many Italian Opens and International Amateur Championships. After a short but yet successful amateur career Alex decided to move into coaching and travelled to the USA to broaden his studies on golf swing techniques.

For almost four years, Alex attended the David Leadbetter Academy in Championsgate, Florida where he could learn from some of the best players on Tour and often trained with former IMG Academy student Ty Tryon.

In 2012 Alex was recruited by TopGolf UK where he contributed to the design and development of their first golf academy program and he was performance golf coach to the 2014 Nike Rookie U13 Tour Order of Merit winner. Alex was also very fortunate to teach golf at some other prestigious venues around England such as The Berkshire Golf Club where he served as Head Assistant Golf Professional.

After living for nearly eight years in England and learning from some of the best coaches in the field, Alex was appointed by the Golfzon Leadbetter Corporation as Head Golf Coach for one of their golf academies in South East Asia.

When not on the golf course Alex enjoys hitting the waves along the gulf coast and practicing Tai-chi.
