For many student-athletes at IMG Academy, Spring Break is a time for rest and relaxation, but for others, it's another opprtunity to compete. Last week, Tommy Mylnikov and Naoki Nakagawa partnered in doubles competition at the International Spring Championships, held in Carson, Calif., April 1-7. Together, the duo proved unstoppable, only yielding a single set on their way to the title. In the final, Mylnikov and Nakagawa bested Alexander Zverev and Spencer Papa, 6-4, 7-5.
Prior to Mylnikov and Nakagawa's triumph, Anudeep Kodali and Basil Khuma joined forces to secure a doubles title of their own at the ITF Grade 4 in Claremont, Calif., March 25-30. Kodali and Khuma were similarly impressive, only yielding a single set on their way to the championship. In the final, Kodali and Khuma trounced the team of Stephen Watson and Justin Bird, 6-1, 6-0.
Currently, Mylnokiv and Kodali are participating in the 2013 Easter Bowl, being held April 7-14. Meanwhile, Khuma is participating in the Costa Rica Bowl, April 8-13.
