The IMG Academy Golf program's Mika Miyazato shot three-over-par 75 on Sunday to win the Japan Women's Open Golf Championship by a single stroke at Sagamihara Golf Club's East Course. Miyazato finished at even-par 288 after starting the final round with a five-stroke advantage. Miyazato fended off a late surge by second-place finishers Miki Saki and Erika Kikuchi, who each finished tied for second at one-over 289. Miyazato came through when it mattered most, knocking down a birdie at the par-5 last to Saiki's par to secure her second LPGA of Japan Tour title in the process.
Miyazato has been training at IMG Academy since 2008, working with Coach Larry Marshall. Miyazato notched her first-career LPGA Tour victory in August 2012 when she took top honors at the Safeway Classic, held at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club’s Ghost Creek course.
