IMG Academy's Alejandro Tabilo has been on the rise in 2013, and added to his stellar year by taking his 11th Canadian junior national title when he won the Rogers Under-18 singles boys' championship at the Ontario Racquet Club in Clarkson on Thursday, Aug. 15. Tabilo soared past Calgary's Harrison Scott in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Tabilo now boasts seven national singles championships and four in doubles. However, there will be little rest for Tabilo, who in the coming weeks will be playing in the Grade 1 Junior International Hard Court Championship Aug. 19-24 in College Park, Md., before heading back to Canada to compete in the main draw of the Grade 1 Canadian Open Junior Tournament.
Tabilo comes to IMG Academy from Mississagua, Ontario, Canada. In addition to his 11 Canadian national titles, Tabilo claimed his first ITF tournament title at the Junkaroo Bowl in the Bahamas in July, won the singles title in the Eddie Herr Boys 14s (2011), and boasts two Junior ITF doubles championships and an Orange Bowl doubles championship.
