IMG Academy's Whitney Osuigwe and Sany Gawande turned in impressive results recently at the Girls 12s Supernational Hard Court Championships held in Alpharetta, Georgia. August 4-10. Eleven-year old Osuigwe had a solid outing, reaching the quarterfinals of the event. Over the course of the year, Osuigwe has risen to become the No. 2 overall player in the nation for the Class of 2020, according to TennisRecruiting.net.
Meanwhile, after an early departure from the main draw singles, Gawande finished strong by winning the consolation bracket. In the consolation bracket, Gawande was nigh unstoppable, defeating each of her opponents in straight sets. In the consolation final, 11-year old Gawande knocked off an opponent two-years her elder, Katherine Kachkarov, the No. 9 ranked prospect in the state of New York according to TennisRecruiting.net. In the final, Gawande dispatched Kacharov, 6-3, 6-3.
